  1. Starting to see more signs of a new Graphtec. Maybe we'll see an official announcement soon! http://www.heattransferwarehouse.com/GRAPHTEC_PLOTTER_CE6000-60.html

  3. Holy cow that's awesomely small! Was that hard to weed? By the way... has anyone heard news of a CE5000 upgrade yet? Who knows if it's real but there are a bunch of translated sites with news for the Graphtec CE6000 saying that it will launch the first week or two of January.
  4. Final question... am I going to see a big enough improvement to justify upgrading from the PCut?
  5. Well I know he bought it new, but that still doesn't change how much it is used on a daily basis. So I take it you would go with the CE5000? Am I going to lose anything in quality of cuts? I don't really care about speed and really thick materials. I just don't want to spend 20 minutes weeding things out anymore like I do with the PCut. And I want to be able to cut larger projects than the PCut can handle before it runs out of memory.

    Mountain Lion

After a couple months with Mountain Lion... do not upgrade if you haven't already. Apparently there are some USB problems now in Mountain Lion and it doesn't like the Keyspan adapter like it used to. I have updated flexi drivers, I've updated FTDI drivers, and even a new driver for the keyspan that was just put out a week ago. The plotter does cut... but there are some big communication problems going on. I have to plug and unplug my usb cable multiple times, mostly with "Cannot Open Port" errors in flexi production manager. Finally after doing that several times the plotter will cut. And once it establishes connection it will work for the rest of the night. It's just that first bit of time that it does not work. Inside the system logs I'm getting "Keyspan USA-19H ::terminate(klOServiceSynchronous) timeout" messages as well but have no idea what that means.

Never had this problem before in the last 1.5 years of operation. Fixed it by reseating all the cables. I'll update if I have the problem again. So far everything is in Mountain Lion is technically working.

Well tonight I'm getting cannot open port errors through production manager. No idea what's going on.

    Mountain Lion

Well I can verify that I updated my MacBook Pro (Early 2008, 4,1) and it started up FlexiStarter just fine. I'm doing a test cut right now with my creation PCut with keyspan and everything is working fine as of now!

    Ipad decal

My gosh... how long did you spend weeding that? And which plotter do you have?
  11. My new PCut looks like it has a clear film cover on it that should be peeled off before use. I try to pluck at it a big and it doesn't really want to come off. I also don't want to peel it completely off and ruin it if it's not suppose to come off. So is this just a little clear cover I should remove? Or is it suppose to stay on there? Brad

Has anyone upgraded to Lion yet? Any problems with software or cutter not working properly?

    USCutter Return Policy

Someone gave their mother one list... the father and the brother did not confer on what they bought... even though they work together, hence duplicates. I am a very small operation, have no need for two straight edges of the same length. In fact I will most likely send both items back and get the same ruler in the 28" length. I will probably try to sell them... with shipping alone from USCutter I'll end up losing about $25 bucks on the deal... and that's if they don't charge me a 20% restocking fee. I'm not looking to make any money, just can't stomach losing that much.

    USCutter Return Policy

I asked for a few vinyl supplies for Christmas this year. Unfortunately I somehow received a couple of duplicates. I got two Big Blue 18" Straight Edges: http://www.uscutter.com/Big-Blue-Ruler-aluminum-with-finger-safety-guard-assorted-lengths-IMSBGBLU and two packs of Sooper Clip Material Roll Clips: http://www.uscutter.com/Sooper-Clip-Material-Roll-Clips-Assorted-Colors-B-IMTSC I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience returning items to us cutter... I'm really worried about returning these two items and getting back less than half of what was paid. I know I'm going to have to pay to ship it back, then pay shipping for whatever else I want new... but I don't want to pay a 20% re-stocking fee as well. Do they always charge that or are they lenient since it's not vinyl material?

    PCut won't finish cuts.

I've got a Creation Pcut 630 with the keyspan adapter. it's hooked up to my 15" MacBook Pro running 10.7.2, and FlexiStarter 8.5v2. I can cut everything I want to just fine... except "big jobs." Tonight I tried cutting a job about 5" Tall x 33" Wide. It stopped right at 30"... twice. Same problem, same spot, each time. It stops with 92% complete in the project manager. Once I stop the file it says "write port error". Does anybody have any idea what is going on? I've attached some screen shots of all my settings, what I was cutting, and what project manager was saying. The Baud rate on the machine is also 9600 BPS. Please help... I really need to be able to cut larger files. Thanks, Brad.

    PCut won't finish cuts.

Thanks for your help Skeeter... I'll run through everything and do more tests over the weekend.
  17. Camel have you ever found any decent work arounds for cutting larger jobs? I'm in the same boat you are in.

    PCut won't finish cuts.

Well I've done tons of test... It's definitely not static. I've cut the same job 6 times with different "conditions" including running the job without the blade or any vinyl loaded... I get stuck at a certain percentage every single time in the exact same spot. The only thing that helps is turning down the curve quality down from high to medium or even low for big jobs... but low looks absolutely horrible and frankly unusable. Has anyone ever messed with packet sizes or even resolution? The other thread skeeter mentioned above has the guy asking about upgrading the memory in the machine. Has anyone ever done this?

    PCut won't finish cuts.

Surely with all the people buying these plotters someone else has this problem? Is there anyone else that can't cut longer/detailed items?

    PCut won't finish cuts.

Well I tried the skeleton tonight... Wouldn't cut... got stuck at 84%. I did get it to cut by turning the curve quality all the way down to low. Surely there is something else I can do or change to get it to cut properly.

    PCut won't finish cuts.

I did three things last night and tried it again. I was able to cut... I wish I did all of these things one at a time so I know what fixed it, but I did all three then tried again and it worked. First I updated the keyspan driver for osx 10.7 that just came out last month. I changed the curve quality (as seen in the pictures) from high to medium. And I changed the dimensions of my material from 23.8" wide x 60" tall, to 23.8" wide x 1000" (I don't remember the exact number) tall. That worked for the quote above. I'm going to try telling it to cut a 60" tall skeleton I had problems with back in October that did the same thing without the blade in the holder (so I don't waste vinyl) to see if I get the same problem I did back then.

Keyspan Serial to USB not working

You may need to reinstall the keyspan drivers found on their site... www.tripplite.com

Keyspan Serial to USB not working

You need to change your output device/port settings... it should look something like this /dev/cu.usa19Hfd13p1.1

    Mac with MH-721 "HOLDING"

Download the latest drivers here if you are on USB: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm and here if you are using a Kayspan: http://www.tripplite.com/en/support/downloads/index.cfm?txtArchive=0&txtLang=&txtOS= Make sure your baud rate is also up... I believe 9600... Can't think of anything else right now since I'm not sitting in front of it.

    OSX Lion

Well I took the plunge... Installed Lion tonight and re-installed the driver as mentioned above before I even opened my program. My PCut just cut a file from Flexistarter. As far as the good ol' mac debate... I've enjoyed most of decisions Apple has made since I switched about 10 years ago, but not all (I'm talking to you iMovie Pro... ugh... I mean new Final Cut Pro X or whatever your name is). But I will tell you right now that the best decision Apple has made aside from hiring Steve Jobs was switching from PowerPC to Intel Processors. It has opened the door for so much process and innovation in the Mac community. Software that would have never made its way to a Mac before is now available... we use to wait 6 months plus to get the mac version of software (if we ever got it)... more peripherals opened up to us... and opening up Windows on a Mac still blows my mind. I understand the frustration... but this was one change that was worth it. And as far as the business model goes... Apple now has much cheaper options available, although, if a true Apples to Apples comparison on hardware was made between Apple and PC, yea you might pay $100 - $200 bucks more... but you get more. iLife installed on computers, security that comes with a mac (not having to buy anti-virus software), $30 OS updates (how much is a Windows 7 upgrade), ease of use, doing what you want instead of troubleshooting, ease of installation (ever seen a product you can install on a windows and mac machine? One page instructions for mac version 5 pages for PC), knowing that all the components in the machine actually work together from the factory unlike the frankenstein machines that Dell and others put out, the apple store and their amazing support and service... that apple tax is starting to look like an apple refund comparatively.
