I can't imagine it not being easier and far more convenient to order one of these things. Taking cost out of it... I can't imagine how much time would go in to making something like this and getting it to look this nice. This is honestly one of the best purchases I've made in a while.

I'm looking to buy a 44 roll vinyl floor rack. Does anyone know the difference or have experience with one of these models? They all basically look the same, but there seems to be three brands that I have come across on about 15 - 20 sign supply sites. I'm wondering if it's just one manufacturer making all of them and letting everyone brand them or if there is an actual difference. Image 1 Impact has there model that can be found on multiple websites. http://image1impact.com/heavy-duty-floor-rack Most sign supply websites sell the Orca model. http://www.signwarehouse.com/p-SE-ORCA44.html And then a few of them like my local Fellers sell the Metalcraft model. http://www.metalcraftindustries.net/p-162-free-standing-vinyl-storage-rack.aspx

Final update... I can now confirm that the Orca rack from signwarehouse.com is made by Metalcraft and is extremely high quality. I bought it, paid about $215 and some change, shipped to OKC. I love it... just need to figure out where to put it now.

So Metalcraft got back to me this morning... for anyone that is wondering half as much as I am. I said... "I'm seeing these things all over the place... your own site [metalcraft], my local distributor Fellers, and websites like signwarehouse.com, Image1Impact.com, beacon graphics, H&H, etc, etc. Some of these carry the name MetalCraft, some carry the name Orca, some say Image1Impact, and I found another brand that I cannot recall the name. Can you please explain the difference in these products to me?" Metalcraft said... "For starters, the company names you listed have in the past, or are currently purchasing our Free Standing Vinyl Floor Rack on a regular basis. Some companies refer to it as the “Orca” rack, even when they send us their purchase orders for our rack. However, it is entirely possible that companies could be getting the racks manufactured somewhere else and still using our instructions or promoting as our product, when in fact it is not. I cannot speak for these companies, but we (Metalcraft Industries, Inc.) fabricate all of our own products right here in Ocala, Florida. We only manufacture (1) version of our Free Standing Vinyl Floor Rack. There are a couple of different ways to ensure that the product you are receiving is ours - the assembly instructions inside the box in the bag of hardware will be ours and have our information as the manufacturer to contact with questions or issues and the outside of the box also has a small white label on there with a checklist of the pieces inside." So that pretty much answers the question for me. I think it's safe to purchase one of these Orca racks and not feel like you're getting an inferior product.

So I spoke with my Fellers rep today, and he claims that the Metalcraft stand is superior to the other brands. At about $65 dollars more than the signwarehouse model I would hope so... Funny thing is, when you go to signwarehouse and click on the product page, then click documentation... it brings up instructions that say the manufacturer is Metalcraft. I put in a message with Metalcraft to see if they could tell me if they are making all of them and if the other brands are just slapping their name on it.

Thank you for that heads up… that puts them just slightly over $200 with shipping. I still can't believe they would be the same thing that everyone else is selling for $50 dollars more. But at that price I guess I might be finding out soon.

Do you remember where you got them from?

Anyone know where to get these tubes?
theishkid replied to PointOfExpression's topic in Off Topic Section
I can find out in the morning... my dad owns a carpet store here in OKC. I want to say they are 4" diameter but that's just going off memory, I'm sure I could be way off. -

Try calling a carpet store and ask them if they have any left over tubes from their carpet rolls. You'll have to cut them down yourself as they generally come in 12' or 15' lengths. -
need to cut outside of pinch roller, please help!
theishkid replied to randalle's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Have you tried using the expand setting for the pinch rollers? It allows you to cut outside the wheels... I don't know if can contour cut with that but it allows you to designs past them. -
Looking to get into a vinyl cutter. Which one?
theishkid replied to wmlepage's topic in Mac Users Board
Don't pay extra for that laser eye unless you are wanting to contour cut decals you print. If you eventually want to get into that then by all means look into one with an eye. But save yourself some money, or get a better cutter without an eye if you don't need it. -

Less headaches on a mac is going to come with the Graphtecs and I'm assuming Rolands. My new Graphtec was literally plug and play on my macbook and works flawlessly every time. If you don't have that kind of cash laying around you can look into a Creation PCut for 1/3rd of the price... There were lots of limitations and a little bit of finessing to get it going, but it definitely worked on a mac and served me very well for almost two years. -

Caster Wheel for CE6000
theishkid replied to theishkid's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Alright, I finally have some rims for this thing! They look great and give me at least an extra inch and a half in height! -
I want to put my new plotter on wheels. Graphtec won't sell me wheels from the 120 model so I'm on my own. I took one of the threaded feet off mine to find the size and it fit perfectly in the M8x1.25 hole at Lowes. Just one problem... it's really hard to find metric casters. I found some online that look pretty nice, will roll well on carpet, and I can add brakes to a couple of them (for when I finally get off my carpet). http://www.needcasters.com/eshop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=TWUN-60N-GS The question... is there any reason I shouldn't do this? And is there something else I should be looking at instead?

I wish they would come out with that for the Mac. -
Caster Wheel for CE6000
theishkid replied to theishkid's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Dennis, 3/8 is what they sent me for my 6000 by mistake but it was much too large for the holes. They finally got back to me this morning and are sending a new set of casters. -
Caster Wheel for CE6000

So I would hold off a while for anyone thinking about ordering these. I just received them today (two weeks after ordering). They put the wrong stem in and won't fit. I ordered M8 x 1.25 and they sent 3/8-16. I sent email messages but still have no response, I also called but could not get ahold of anyone, though I might have called too late. I'll let you know if it ever gets straightened out.
