What clear vinyl for phone/laptop skins?

How does it look without any rhinestones? Does it peel off without leaving glue?

What clear vinyl for phone/laptop skins?

Anyone else? I found on the 3m website they sell '3m Glossy Protection Film' made specifically for this purpose. I'm going to order some and give it a try.

    Free 3M Sample rolls

Has this worked for anyone recently? Once I've filled out all the necessary details I cannot click the 'submit' button at the bottom.
  4. Would any clear vinyl work? It seems most skins I've bought adhere well and can me removed without any glue residue. Thanks

Can SB rearrange objects to minimize vinyl use?

Nesting system? Do they have this for SB?
  6. .eps file attached below. I shuffled these objects by hand trying to minimize vinyl use. Is there a way of doing this automatically in SB or other? For a 24" cutter. Thanks rearranged for 24.eps
  7. So, lets say I cut five decals from one side to the other across the Y axis. The first and last decal will always be cut deeper than the middle three. Any idea why? The outside decals will either be cut too deep with the middle ok or the middle not deep enough and the outsides ok. Great way to waste vinyl. I set blade depth by hand on a scrap piece of vinyl and usually fine tune a bit on the machine. Pressure is usually around 120. Thanks in advance.
  8. Making some decals for a friend's gym. Vector file of the logo was provided by him. Problem is (illustrated below in the picture), the anchors and paths are offset in from where the edge of the black text (sorry, don't know the correct terminology). Simply put, when I cut the graphic it is not as 'bold' as they want. Is there an easy way around this? Sorry, I'm pretty new to this. Thanks in advance, Dan

Not sure if I'm setting up the blade correctly?

I polished the holder and no longer have the problem with scratching. Great idea, thanks. I'll try to find a replacement o-ring but I don't think it will make much of a difference. There seems to be adequate pressure from the o-ring, it just seems as though the tolerances between the threads on the body and cap aren't very good. I might try some teflon tape. We'll see.

Not sure if I'm setting up the blade correctly?

Hmm, i'll give that a try and report back. What about the scratching of the vinyl from the blade cutter cap?

Not sure if I'm setting up the blade correctly?

Thanks for the quick replies! Didn't realize until today that I had posted this in the wrong section. I always have too many tbs open. Mods feel free to move this to a place more appropriate. Ok, so my cutter is a Creation Pcut CT630. Stock blade holder. Blades I use are Roland Blade *60 bought from UScutter. They are the exact same as the ones that came with my cutter. Vinyl is Greenstar as I've been hesitant to purchase anything better until I get this figured out. Blade sticks out about two credit card lengths. When I back off the front piece (ill call this the cap) to get a good cut like Skeeter mentioned, the cap is so loose that it rocks back and forth a bit (not tight on the threads and o-ring). This in turn seems to dig one side of the cap in scratching the vinyl. Blade seems to be fully inserted as I cant seem to push it any further. Almost seems like the blade is slightly too long. Are these small scratches normal? I can't imagine a blade holder dragging across the vinyl without marking it?? Sorry for the blurry pictures, they were taken with my phone. Thanks again, Dan
  12. Is the blade holder bottom supposed to drag along the vinyl when it cuts? As I understand, I need to back off the threaded cap until the blade only sticks out a half credit card length. When I do this, the cap is screwed so far off only 1 or so threads are holding it on so it wobbles and barely holds on. Blade is fully in. Am i doing something wrong? Thanks!

Which transfer tape to use with Greenstar Vinyl?

Thanks for the info! Any others want to chime in?
  14. New to the whole vinyl cutting thing. I'm about to buy some Greenstar to play around with and was wondering which transfer tape everyone is using with this vinyl? I figured the matching brand greenstar tapes should work well but would like to hear what others have to say first. thanks in advance!
