Where ya been buddy?!?!

Holy cow... you're 1033 years old?!?! BTW... not that I'm a moderator or anything... but this was posted in the wrong sub-forum. There is a "graphics request" sub-forum further down the way, that's quite popular.

Nice work...

Well folks, it's been a fun ride while it lasted, but it's time for me to move on. I have put in my request to the paid USC staff to serve me my pink slip. The forum seems to be going in a different direction then when Ken first recruited me, and I don't necessarily like what it's becoming, and where it's continually headed. I have spoken my mind, and have made a handful of suggestions to the new USC paid staff regarding my concerns, and they have gone unanswered. Enough with the headaches, and countless hours of searching, scanning, policing, and modding this place... I'm ready to be put back in the general population, and party! Thanks to the members and my friends for the continuous support... you know who you are. Tim

Try http://www.whatthefont.com if you have a jpg image of the font, you upload the image to the site, and their database gives you suggestions on which font(name) it may be.

How to connect letters to look like cusive writting
firemalt replied to jmoney's topic in General Help
First you have to do after typing out your word, is kern the letters, which means properly spacing the letters. Once you have everything where you want it, then you need to do a total weld, which will make the overlaps all combine. -
You could start out by making a few different sized circles... Arrange them to where they are all touching... Weld them all together... Node edit to get the desired looked...

Figured it out yourself, or did you get some advice from someone? Just curious...

Nice work... fyi from a design standpoint, I would personally make the word "custom" about half the size, and then double the size of "Pinstriping & Lettering". If a possible customer is walking or driving by, they only have a split second to scan the info... in that short time span, you walk them to know what your company is about. The word "CUSTOM" is so (and it's red), that becomes the focal point of the plate. I would maybe even lose the word "custom" all together, so the company number could be enlarged.

PM sent... I don't want to get fired for posting a link to another forum.

Can Someone Please Please Vectorize This Logo For Me ASAP
firemalt replied to TFarrar's topic in Vectorizing
Image wasn't good enough to get a quality convertion out of it... sorry. Welcome to the forum... -
But dogs are typically so much more loyal... plus they don't get mad when you drink directly out of the milk jug, forget to shave, or watch p0rn.

You may want to ask your question over on that "other" forum... there are lots of people over there with vinyl printers, I'm sure someone would get you straightened out in no time.

cutter not finishing cut, with pics
firemalt replied to paranoid56's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Discussion
One step further... you may have to play with your offset settings, what works for one machine may throw off another machine. Get a scrap piece of vinyl, and do 20 or 30 test cuts, and write down each setting before moving on the to the next test cut... While it's not perfect, the cut in the first picture is sometimes the norm for the pcut and refine. -
machine just stops..

On one certain image, or anything you try to cut? -
It's always going to be there in a jpg image... did you check to see if either of the files worked for you? There is no background in the ai and eps file.

outsourcing banners
firemalt replied to loren's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
You just have to find a good quality sub that you can trust, and does work up to your standard. I have sub'ed out a few jobs, but I always inspect the work prior to handing it over to the customer. -
Pricing of Auto Lic tags
firemalt replied to pinhead_54's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
$10 to $15 per plate depending on design and type of vinyl used. -
I used a combination of Inkscape and Flexi Pro, so if you are using SBE, it probably won't open, so maybe you use the jpg or the ai file. drawing.ai drawing.eps drawing.ai drawing.eps

A few things... As stated before, I'd personally re-type the lettering. While it looks "okay", if you start looking closer, you will see some imperfections in the lettering. The other thing is, you asked "Is this cut ready?" No... not yet atleast. You saved the file as a .svg, which is Inkscape standard saving format. To make it "cut ready", you have to reopen the file in Inkscape, go to "save as", and save it as an .eps file. From there, you can open it in your cutter software, and you're home free...

Amazing what someone can achieve just by reading a few posts, and actually trying to do it themselves... strong work!
