I've found only one post mentioning the Vector Doctor (www.vectordoctor.com) so I thought I'd mention him one more time just to make sure you all know about his amazing abilities. I've used this guy a few times with great results. his rates are extremely attractive too. His latest job for me was a 5 color design. I received back two different files. one vectored specifically for printing and another for vinyl cutting. It's all in how the layers are overlapped and makes a big difference. If you have anything you want vectorized this is the man! and before you ask, NO!!! I am in NO WAY affiliated with this guy and his services. i'm simple a very satisfied client that thought you should know. Bill

FYI: When doing text in an arc or circle ALWAYS capitalize.

a fatal fire Feb. 21st that claimed my mother and destroyed everything. I'm sitting in my new empty shop, nothing but an old desk, a laptop and a printer. Waiting on my new cutter then onto building counters, shelves etc. My laserpoint is a black smoky sticky mess. I haven't tried to clean it up yet but will try. Who knows, maybe i'll get lucky Thought i'd drop you a note and let you all now I haven't disappeared altogether. Bill ps, if you don't already have one get a fire extinguisher in your house!!! it would have made all the difference.

how to do a border without weed lines on the backround
Sassy Shirts replied to dill's topic in SignBlazer
This is from memory so it might be a little fuzzy but should get you on the right track. say you have a black background of a football and white text on top of that in white that says football. in SBE there may be two sets of cutlights. one in white for the text football and another in black that also says football. To verify this move your white text off the black background and click in the area (on the black background) if you see the words "football" there is a cut line in the black background area also. simply click and delete the black "football" cutlines. now move the white "football" text back onto the your black background and your good to go. there is probably a MUCH easier way of doing this in SBE but I havent found it. FYI: these steps shouldn't need to be done if the original vector artwork was created correctly in the first place. There are two ways to creat vector files vfor multiple colored decals. the first is each layer is a solid colored layer in whhich eaqch color is applied ontop of the last. there is also a "nested" application where the layers are placed "inside" an area cut into the previous layer. this can result in gaps between layers due to shrinkage of bad layer placement though and I wouldnt advise. some allow for an edge overlap but this can have some disadvantages also in smaller decals. I hope this helped a little Bill -
this is a product of a post in my other topic. I had no idea this was available :why: "Note The Remote Desktop Connection software is pre-installed with Windows XP. To run it, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection. This software package can also be found on the Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home Edition product CDs and can be installed on any supported Windows platform. To install from the CD, insert the disc into the target machine's CD-ROM drive, select Perform Additional Tasks, and then click Install Remote Desktop Connection."

SB lLaserPoint update staus?
Sassy Shirts replied to Sassy Shirts's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
excellent question, i'm wondering if this has 'those that know' baffled as well, it's been more than a week since you posted this question. any ideas? -
It's even easier than that. just draw ONE box, color it some color NOT in your original design, copy it, paste it, and place one below and one above your design. sometimes I simply place them both below my image, on ein each bottom corner.. in your cut screen select your color, including the box color and BINGO - done! a two layer decal: bottom layer leave the cut boxes. second layer cut the boxes out align the second layer, with the boxes cut out over the layer with the boxes and tape down the top of your decal. remove the vinyl backing and laydown and squeej. works like a charm. Another thought, there is alittle program called "remote desktop control" that i will be trying soon to control cutting via a network. it seems promising in that I can execute any program, via my network, on my server. The post you referranced was mine and the original questions was, I want to cut on my LaserPoint via the network. that is, I was hoping I could set-up the LaserPoint as a printer and send my cut jobs to it via the network much like I do with my other printers... heck even my Craft Robo set-up prperly on my network :bang: I still am baffled this is not an option in todays world of wireless home networks. oh Thanks for letting us know. One questions though. isn't the jog feature slated for use for the LaserPoint to fine tune the alignment of the laser head?
-
In the cut menu there are two option available. one it maximum position (or something to that effect) and home position. When I click maximum the head moves to the maximum position for that particular cut but then I have to reset my cutter and vinyl manually to the home position. the home button doesn't work for me either. ideas? lose the knob on the tree saw. lose the (what appears to be) pliers poking up above the level. lose the "thing" under the level - cant tell what it is and is a destraction. lose the "whatsit" poking out in front of the "ice pick" there is something above the paint pucket poking out - cant tell what it is so lose it. it appears he is carrieing something in his right hand, dont know what it is slean up the belt - to much black clean up the dripping paint off the bucket. sinplify the shadowing on the ladder will help weeding. clean up the tree saw handle - add some white space. those are my suggestions - hope they help. nice... I would talk them into dropping the WWW however. it cause me emotional grief reading the URL. the WWW was a distraction and didn't anything important that the .COM did not already cover. now a day the WWW is redundant in advertising. Bill
