    Everything's backwards!

Yeah, Gnatt, I guess that's what I'll have to do, too. But I don't know why everybody else gets to do it normal and you and I don't. Ah, life. Sometimes it just isn't fair. Hope this is the biggest problem you and I ever have! Carolyn

    Everything's backwards!

Removed and saved the old driver and dropped the new driver from USCutter.com into the Output Drivers folder. Machine operates just as it did before - no change. Any more suggestions? I guess I can live with it this way, but would prefer not to. Thanks, Carolyn
  3. I installed the demo version of SB and the machine seemed to cut with the orientation directed by the software, so I guess it's a Flexi problem. I'll go back to the Flexi section of this forum and continue me begging for info. Thanks, Carolyn

    Everything's backwards!

I kinda wondered about the country of origin affecting how it worked, but even in China, I'd think they'd want the vinyl to advance forward from the roll instead of backward. Anyway, I tried installing SignBlazer and managed to send something to the cutter from it. The orientation in SB
  5. I'm really enjoying my new 630 but I can't figure out why it's cutting "backwards." In other words, if I'm standing facing the cutter and send a job from FlexiPro, the carriage begins by moving to the right of it's original position instead of the left. In the General tab in Production Manager, the image is in the lower right corner of the material screen. If I move the image to the LEFT in Flexi Production Manager to reposition it on the vinyl, the knife moves farther to the RIGHT to start cutting, instead of to the left like I moved the image in Production Manager. So it's moving backwards to the movement of the Flexi image. Given that the knife carriage moves to the right from the origination point when starting a job, I would expect that at the end of the job, the carriage would advance to the right of the job in preparation for the next job, but it does just the opposite and moves to the left. Also, when when the job is finished, instead of advancing the vinyl forward, it pulls it backwards. Also, any image in Flexi Production Manager is mirrored when the job is sent to the cutter. If I'm cutting a picture of a horse's head that is facing right in the Flexi Production Manager screen, the cutter reverses it so it is facing left. I'm not doing anything in the software to make it flip, it just does it on it's own. I received two CDs with my cutter, SignBlazer and PLTDraw. I never went through a setup wizard or Plug n Play. I connected my cutter with the serial cable to Com1 and the cutter immediately worked, albeit backwards. I looked at the two CDs and don't see a setup program other than for the design softwares, neither of which I am using. Is this a setting on the machine I am missing or a setting in Flexi I haven't found? Also, is there any way to keep the knife from advancing sideways and forward (or in my case, backward) at all, once the job is finished? Sure would appreciate your help! Carolyn

    Everything's backwards!

Thanks, but I guess I need to post this on the PCut section of the forum instead of the Flexi section. I only received two CDs with my cutter, one for SignBlazer and one for PLTDraw. I connected my cutter to Com1 via the 9-pin serial cable and no setup screen or wizard ever presented itself. I just tried the first cut and the cutter worked, albeit backwards.

The measuring tape on the machine goes from 0 to 70 from left to right, so I would expect the knife to advance to the right when finishing a job, but it advances to the left. Then when the job is finished, instead of advancing the vinyl forward, it pulls it backwards. Is this a setting on the machine I am missing or a setting in Flexi I haven't found? Hello from the Great Midwest!

I'm one of those people the signmaker and t-shirt forums would snub. As usual, I've plowed headlong into something I know nothing about. Just got my Creation 630 and it's sitting on the table with the plastic still on it. I messed around with a friend's Master cutter for a couple of hours and had a barrel of fun. My use for this cutter is to cut small stencils from vinyl for sandblasting my own designs on natural stones (turquoise, onyx, carnelian, etc.) for making jewelry and also on small glass articles (antique paperweights, wine glasses, votive candle holders, etc.) I have FlexiPro and am having fun experimenting with it trial-and-error fashion. Learned to vector pretty quickly and learned to send to the Master cutter from Flexi. To my total amazement, the designs actually cut the way I wanted them! Who'da thunk? As others have proclaimed here, my brain is a sponge - an old, crumbling sponge. Just doesn't hold together like it used to a half a century ago and is kind of leaky, but I still have fun. I looked through the forum and now I'm totally freaked to try to set up my cutter. Apparently, I'm a technological hypochondriac and figure I'm going to encounter each and every problem I've read about here. My first issue is: Is there some great disadvantage to using a serial port? My computer is about 7 or 8 years old. The only reason it is still not completely obsolete is that I bought the fastest Athlon I could afford back then. But it only has two USB ports, one is for my cable internet connection (obviously can't give that up or you wouldn't be reading this) and the other is for my printer. I do have a vacant serial port compatible with the serial cable that came with my cutter. But the only installation instructions I have seen say, "First connect with the USB cable." Does anybody out there use the serial cable for connection? Is there anything special you have to do during installation? Will it feed data to the cutter much more slowly or will speed be comparable to a USB connection? I know the media polling feature in Flexi only works on devices connected through a serial port. Not that I need that particular feature - I still remember how to use a ruler, but that could easily change tomorrow. At least my version of Flexi has the driver for the Creation 630 - that's a start. Any help would be appreciated with my first installation because right now I'm just sitting and staring at it. And it's staring back! Eerie! Wiregems
