To all the newbies (and lazy veteran's) of this forum ... Please, please, please post your cutting "vitals" in your signature or under your avatar. Then we wouldn't waste a LOT of time asking these questions ... 1. Cutter model? 2. PC of Mac? 3. Operating system? 4. USB or Serial? 5. Cutting Software? With those most basic details, there are many issues that could be solved by the first member responding. Since many times this information isn't provided or available, it just adds the time and effort. I know that many members want quick answers ... help us help you and there's a good chance your answer will come a lot quicker.

Here's a thread that I started a while back. I was totally confused and really new to all of this raster/vector ... what is or is not vector. Hope this helps... http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,2554.0.html

Hey ... I was one of them for a long while

See ... like I totally missed thread. (sigh). Sorry if I started steering people in the wrong direction there! There ... I fixed my signature

Thanks for asking! Go to "Profile," then to "Forum Profile Information." There you can choose to place the text either under your Avatar (Personal Text) or in your signature (Signature).

Digitize your customer's logo, than tack on a digitizing fee. If they want the digital version for their use, then you can charge a little more

See, that's what I was thinking, but Cody says different. So I thought there was something that I was missing in PS or that my version of PS was too old. If anyone comes up with the thread that Cody is talking about, would you mind posting a link in this thread? I did a search but couldn't find info about it. Mahalo!

Has anyone found the thread that explains how to send stuff straight to the cutter from PS? I did a search, but didn't find anything. I must not be using the right keywords. What version of PS does this work with?

woo. I'll be the first to admit that contour cutting is out of my skill set (for now). I'm sure that someone will come along and post their recommendations. Good luck! -
kewlie!! What did you order??

First off ... to the forum!! You can definitely design in PS. Although I don't think that PS has a vector plug-in. Cutter graphics need to be in vector format. So for you (or anyone else not designing in vector) the steps would be: 1. design; 2. vectorize; 3. import to SBE (Sign Blazer Elements) or whatever cutting software you have; and 4. cut. Many members here, including myself, use Inkscape (inkscape.org) to vectorize our stuff. It's free open source software, and I must say that it works pretty darn good! Only drawback is that the only vector output is in b&w, and not in color, so if the end product you need is a multi-layer/multi-color decal, then you might need to find/use another software to do the multi-color vectoring (vectormagic.com) If you don't have any vector images off-hand, feel free to check out the "Graphic Requests" bulletin, there are LOT there for you to download and use. **Caution: this forum has been known to promote addictive behavior

nuh uh. Haagen Dazs Strawberry, Baskin Robins Mint Chocolate Chip (although I liked it better when it was called Chocolate Mint), or Drumsticks (either the original or the straight vanilla dipped in chocolate). I don't eat sweets too much, but when I do, I make sure to make the best of it I'd also take 3 musketeers over snickers or milky way anyday. almond joy over mounds. reese's pieces over m&m's (any variety). mr. goodbar over nestle crunch. I mostly stick to salty stuff for dessert ... beef jerky, potato chips, salami, etc. I totally love prosciutto ham, with some lavash and some Fromager d'Affinois cheese.

Maybe he's scoopin' the poopin' from his pants. I'm just kidding!! He's probably taking the weekend off everything so he can drink, karaoke, and jump out of planes.

Please help me understand and add to my understanding! Thanks!

Don't worry about that "error." SBE will function properly without looking for any updates. -
What does the error say ... verbatim.
-
You don't necessarily get an error specific to the USB cord. You might be getting an "initialization error" and if that's the case, then you need to double check (in the cut setup screen), that you have the right cutter selected, and the right port for the computer to send the job to. If it's not an initialization error, then tell us what the error actually says or better yet, post a screen shot for us to look at so we can help you trouble it. give us a little more info (and I recommend posting this in your signature) ... Which cutter? PC or Mac? Operating System? Cutting Software? **to add attachments to your post, simply click the "Additional Options..." at the bottom of the reply screen. It would also help if you post this question in the right bulletin board (i.e. cutter model, or cutting software, etc.)

I don't know if I completely understand what's happening here. What do you want the LaserPoint to do? Are you printing the graphic, then wanting the LP to contour cut it? Are you wanting to cut each color separately? If you're only wanting to contour cut, than you can ditch all the colors and the only thing that you need is the outline of the image. Bottom line is the your file too big. Way too big. Post back what you're actually looking to do. Just remember, if it's a vector image, there is no reason to save it "life size", a small version is suffice. -

whoa. My heart goes out to you :'( Unfortunately I don't have much to offer, except a lot of empathy. I'm sure someone who is "in the business" will chime in shortly. Seems to me, you're on the right track though. Let us know if there are other ways we can assist you!
