MAGNETIC CAR SIGNS
Raulrdz replied to nonabelle's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Beware of ebay magnet materials and stay away form Enduramag from Signwarehouse, I have read many posts on other furoms about these mags sticking to vehicles even when removed and cleaned periodically. Your product is your business, spend a little more but get the good stuff: 30 mil 100lbs psf MSI and Magnum are probably the best products out there. Try Beacon Graphics or N Glantz. -
Where do you fit in?
Raulrdz replied to Aardy54's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Legit business with a DBA, working part-time out of the house. Next step is to try to change over from a manufacturer, which means I don't pay sales tax on raw materials, to a contractor. Contractors in the State of Texas must pay sales tax for all supplies and machinery, but you can legally install signs, not to mention I can also get my sign contractor's license from the city. -
The power of bartering
Raulrdz replied to slopchops's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
One thing to keep in mind that bartering is still income and needs to be reported as such both for the IRS and for sales taxes. A lot of people don't because they actually did not exchange money, but you never know, most business will try to write a barter deal off as an expense and if they get audited, the next stop the auditor may make is with you. Just a thought. -
Outsourcing 4-Color Banner Printing
Raulrdz replied to mtnet2000's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Wholesale to the trade only pricing is around 1.99 a sq ft. at $10.00 you cannot make any money yourself. -
Check out globalprintsupply.com they seem to know what inks will work and their prices are reasonable

Just my two cents...always try to leave a professional impression with your clients. Get yourself some real tools don't use a credit card. People start getting the idea that anyone with a credit card can apply vinyl. Then they ask why they pay so much for installs. On the other hand a few bubbles is normal, wet is good but it is slower than a dry apply.

Cuts across the graphic randomly
Raulrdz replied to smoovlatino's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
I noticed this happens to my cuts whenever I cut weeding lines on large graphics. I stopped using weeding lines on large runs and that seems to have solved the problem. -
I have been using signcut since December no problems at all beat the heck out of that artcut stuff my cutter came with. No hang-ups or any other problems.

I have ordered from Ordway aka Signsupply.com they have a nice strater package of MacTac vinyl pretty reasonable. Beacon Graphics is another vendor I use, a little more expensive but great service they ship DHL one days service in my area for the same shipping cost as others on UPS Ground.
