I was on the phone with support today and they had me take the cover off the carriage. They wanted me to do the 9v battery test but I didn't have one so I got a ref number to call them back. When I got home I noticed that the blade holder would move freely down, but only spring half way up. I could lift it all the way up but it felt like it was rubbing. While on the call the support folks had me try the 4 screws you can see from the top of the solenoid when you have the cover off. So on a whim I loosened them and pushed the blade holder toward the carriage while tightening them back down. And Voila the blade holder now spring all the way back up when pushed down. Now my MH is cutting like a pro.

It seems that I can cut 5 or 6 projects just fine, then either the blades won't cut the vinyl or it cuts all the way through. Is it normal for there to be some much difference in behavior at times? Also, how much should the head move up and down? It's hard to see but it seems that it barely moves up when it travels from one part of an image to another.

Blade seems to be dragging at times
blakemail replied to blakemail's topic in MH Series Vinyl Cutters
I've noticed that there are areas that seem more likely to cut poorly. I have the rollers out as far as possible and I think they need to come in a bit to keep the vinyl flatter. Is there any guidance on roller placement. -
Blade seems to be dragging at times

So update to the issue. I seem to have the blade depth set right. The vinyl is cutting and there is a slight indentation in the wax paper under it. But, When I have cut job with more than one thing the blade is scratching the vinyl as the head moves from one shape to another shape. There are some other inconsistent things like where the outside of a letter B cuts fine but the inside does not cut deep enough. I think the second issue is a vectorize issue but don't know what to change. I'm having mixed success. I'm trying to be consistent with the settings but getting mixed results. There is something else I'm missing I think. -

Turns out it was my own fault. My vectorize was bad. Re-did that and all is well. -

Now sure what's happened. I've been able to cu several projects without issue. Now I can't cut anything more complex than a basic shape (square, circle, star) without the blade grabbing random pieces of vinyl off the sheet. I've re-checked the speed and pressure (300 and 100), I changed blades. I even changed blade carriers. I had the blade too deep at one point and backed it off. My sample cut of basic shapes was fine. But the more complex image is causing problems. Not sure if there is a setting for the image itself that could be causing the issue. I'm using VinylMaster LTR. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How wide is the useable cutting area on the MH365?
blakemail posted a topic in MH Series Vinyl Cutters
I have an MH365 which is listed at a 14" cutter. I made a design that is 10 inches wide and loaded 12 in wide Oracal vinyl into the cutter. When it made the cuts the image was the width I expected but part of the cuts were over other cuts. It's almost like I told it to make a 10 in wide image but it can only cut 9 inches wide so it pushed part of the image together. If I rotate the image it cuts fine because then it's only 2 inches wide. The image in question is about 10x2. So my question is how wide of an image can the MH365 cut?
