    "Defective" vinyl roll? Cutting awfully....

Thanks Skeeter. I have seen this posted numerous times, and know the procedure by memory at this point. Just on a whim, I decided to pull the matte vinyl roll off of the cutter, and loaded up some colored gloss calendar up. Did the same cut, absolutely no issues cutting the glossy calendar media. Just on a whim, I'm going to try and cut the matte again, and bump the pressure back up about 30g. It's just odd to me that given same material brand and "model", I don't have these issues with the matte black or any other colored media. Only this matte white is the bane of my existence. LOL.
  2. I only purchase my vinyl from here, and have various width and length rolls, all of which are Oracal 651. I'm having so many headaches with my roll of 15" matte white 651. It just doesn't want to cut cleanly like all of my gloss vinyl. Either it doesn't cut deep enough, or cuts deep enough and pulls and still doesn't separate when weeding. Even my matte black vinyl does better at release when picking/weeding than this stuff. Is it possible that I ended up with a troublesome roll? I've wasted way more than I care to admit and it's super frustrating. Cutter is Titan 2 28", using genuine Roland 45 degree blades, .25 offset just in case anyone asks. As I mentioned above, I do not have these issues with any other vinyl hanging from my racks on my wall. Thanks.
  3. LOL! Thank you everyone for your insight. Currently, I'm using an xacto knife as it fits into the groove at the bottom edge of the ruler that's inset into the cutter's frame. So far, I haven't scratched anything but I fear that doing this repeatedly will eventually cause damage to the ruler. I'll pick up a letter opener styled cutter then. For what it's worth, I'm using SCALP5, so I advance the feed post-cut. This allows me to not have to jog the machine offline in order to cut, then set the homepoint for the following cut. Have a great evening/weekend all. Cliff
  4. So far, the machine is working flawlessly. I've been using my Titan 2 28" for a few days, and I'm spitting out designs with so many different decals, at an alarming rate. I've got a great grasp for cutting speed and pressure, and etc. Now I'm wondering, if it's something I've overlooked with regard to removal of the vinyl from the roll after a job is finished? I was thinking about maybe doing multiple passes with a horizontal line across the vinyl that ends up scoring the backing? Is this just something that isn't done? Best to leave well enough alone and manually cut after project completion? Thanks in advance. I did do some re(search)ing but didn't really find a whole lot on the topic. I'm looking to make it a somewhat more automated process, for instance a batch of jobs to cut, separate vinyl, and move to the next job without interaction once I have some queued up.
  5. Good morning all, newb here :) Just received my Titan 2 28" cutter, and was wondering if it's possible to cut from 8.5x11" printed vinyl? I printed with registration marks, however when trying to align for the 3rd registration mark it obviously spits the page out into the bin. I was thinking that maybe I could use a 1yd x 12in piece of vinyl and apply the pages to the vinyl with painters tape or hobby tape, and then do the registrations successfully and cut the decals out of the letter-sized inkjet vinyl? I'm attempting to contour cut 6 decals on a single sheet of letter-sized medium. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of your trades!
