  1. I found this thread, and checked if there was a support ticket on this issue, and it was answered and closed on 12/06. Just to spread some knowledge I'll provide the same information on this thread.

The Titan and the MH operate a little differently with the offline functionality. On the Titan, after you line up the vinyl and the carriage where you want it to be, you want to hit the Enter key to set the origin. If you just hit the offline button again to exit the offline mode, the Titan can remember the previous origin, and rewind to where it was before you hit the offline button.

  2. If you are setting the origin before the cut, and it's feeding out vinyl before the cut, it's usually due to the design or a setting in the software. I'm not very familiar with SBE, but I'd make sure that the preview of the cut doesn't look like it's starting several inches away from the origin point on the screen. A lot of programs have advance after plot available as an option as well, and I'd see if turning that off helps to resolve the issue.

if that doesn't fix it, I'll defer judgment to the SBE experts. Providing some images of what you are seeing before sending the job may make it easier to find the solution.

Ok this may be a dumb question but just to be clear, are you sure your version of SCALP is for mac? I thought the SCALP program came as an either/or. Either Windows OR Mac not both. Maybe they have changed that.

As long as I've been here, Sure Cuts A Lot Pro has worked for both Mac and PC. I have spoken to people that purchased the entry level non-pro versions of Sure Cuts A Lot that we don't sell, and I've seen that those are restricted to one platform per license. That may be what you are talking about, but I haven't encountered any issues moving Sure Cuts A Lot Pro from Mac to Windows or vice versa.

I have been doing a little research on this plotter. I’m looking for a backup. Use to using graphtecs but my question is is this a plotter more for hobbyists?

A number of people have been wondering if the PrismCut is for professionals or high end hobbyists. It seems that the specifications and performance of the PrismCut tend to blur those lines:

On the one hand the sleek design suggests a high end hobbyist machine, but at the same time it can cut tiny 2mm lettering at a level of precision you will not find on other cutter/plotters regardless of price. So we have to ask ourselves what can a "professional" machine do that the PrismCut cannot? Early users are saying that PrismCut delivers high quality professional looking results, so however you want to label it is largely a question of personal preference.

    I need help!

My cutter is cutting offset, and I cannot figure out why!! It is ruining projects that I have already printed out three times because the printer wasn't printing correctly.

I have not yet done a plot test. However, this has been a consistent problem for months. The last plot test I did was correct, and there was nothing wrong with it. The cutter cuts off sometimes worse than others, but almost always off on every single job I cut.  I double checked all the settings before cutting this, and nothing was set to offset or anything.

Can anyone give me any suggestions to fix this problem????

I'm wasting so much vinyl on a lot of jobs that get cut wrong.

    PLEASE HELP :(

What cutting software are you using to run the cutter? There's usually calibration, or an offset value you can change to make the cuts to line up.

  6. I have not heard of any plans to discontinue lifetime licenses. Unfortunately, it seems like we are out of stock of the VinylMaster LTR PSN cards that we ship with cutters, so you can't add one onto a cutter purchase. However, it is possible to upgrade to LTR by trading in VinylMaster Cut, and due to the coupon code that is available right now on our site, you can actually upgrade for half price. You can find that here on USCutter.com

Sometimes we run out of the physical code cards, but it's always available for a digital download or upgrade, because those digital codes are practically infinite.

  7. I'm using the demo to jump in and check for the setting, and there it is. you need to have the arc text tool selected, and the text you have just created needs to be selected. Once that happens you can click that little triangle to reveal the advance tools, and they should be right there.

  8. I feel that a call with tech support would be the best idea, since we can usually cover all of the bases in under an hour. While a forum is great for many subjects, if the person asking the question isn't very active, it could take weeks to resolve the issue, which I feel would be more frustrating than a phone call.

That being said, I've extended the offer, and if she would rather get support here on the forum, that is fine as well.

haven't used anything from that particular printer but if the ink is dry it shouldn't smear - - - for 18x24 yard signs I always used my felt covered big squeegee - made by . . . .big squeegee. I printed them slightly oversized and later learned to add registration tic marks in 2 of the corners to speed the process.  I would start in the middle and when I peeled the backing off just cut it straight and apply the first 1/2 - then turn it around and repeat.  it is helpful to use the overlap art of the vinyl to adhere it to my cutting mat so it didn't slide.

Truth in advertising, that is certainly a big squeegee!

I know it will kill the warranty, I am trying to use a good alternative.

We've only tested it with genuine Sawgrass inks, so if you do want to go that route of finding an alternative, you'll be in uncharted waters, so to speak. i'm not sure where you would be able to get tech support if something goes wrong.

And yes, as Dakota says, if you are willing to take the risk of damaging your printer or rendering it inoperable, then you are free to make that decision.

I have a Sawgrass SG400, and need to buy ink - which we all know is crazy expensive.  I have seen InkOwl ink online, and it seems to get good reviews on Amazon, but I am still scared.  Has anybody here used it?

We have not tested any alternatives for genuine Sawgrass inks. I would recommend reading this information on non-genuine Sawgrass inks that I found on the Sawgrass FAQ as it may affect your warranty:

I hope that that helps, let us know if you have any additional questions. You can also contact Sawgrass directly to see what they have to say on this matter. Thank you for using the USCutter Forum!

  14. We are still waiting for the new version to be published on Craftedge.com, but we have just been provided a link you can use to download the newest version before it is added to the site.

Here is the link to the newest version of Sure Cuts A Lot 4 Pro for Mac.

That version should resolve any issues with the blade offset setting you have been having, but let us know if you encounter any new issues, and we'll pass them along.

Will I be able to use a cutting mat to cut 6mm acetate with the SC2?  I cut a lot of stencils with that material now.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your interest in the SC2, and for using the Forum!

6mm is a lot, and the thickest I found for acetate sheets on google was 3 mil, so I'm operating under the assumption that you mean 6 mil.

I wouldn't recommend the SC2 for cutting acetate. It's one of our value hobby cutters that are really more geared to cutting vinyl and easier stuff like that. It's possible that it may work with some fiddling, but we're not confident enough to recommend or support using an SC2 for that purpose.

For cutting acetate, we would recommend one of the Titan series cutters. Depending on how big you want the stencils to be,  the Table Titan 1 can cut stencils up to 15" wide, and it's $549, which is only $100 more than the 28" SC2 at its base price.

A carrier sheet would be a must in any case, though, but it looks like you already know that.

  16. On 10/07, Apple released their new version of Mac OS, Catalina, which now requires all programs to be written as 64bit applications and not have any dependencies on 32 bit libraries or resources. At the time of release, neither Sure Cuts a Lot 3 Pro nor Sure Cuts a Lot 4 Pro are 64bit applications and as a result have been rendered incompatible with the new OS. Since that point, however, Sure Cuts a Lot 4 Pro has received a 64 bit update. That said, please be aware that there might be a few hiccups using this upgraded version as the developer works to assure it is fully complaint with the new OS' standards.

Thank you for reporting this issue to us, we have noticed there may be trend with the new 64bit version of Sure Cuts A Lot 4 Pro. In our testing, the blade offset appears to be off like the image above, and changing the blade offset does not resolve the issue. We are in touch with the developer to see if this issue can be patched. In the meantime, if the the need for a software is dire, you can upgrade your copy of SCAL4Pro to SCAL5Pro for $60, as it is currently on sale. We have not encountered these issues on SCAL5Pro, and you can find a link to that upgrade here on USCutter.com. Please let us know if anyone is encountering other issues with these newly released builds, and I'll follow-up here when a new version is released.

  17. It could be speed, but it could also be pressure, blade depth, or blade offset. Did you try cutting the test cut using the option on the cutter? If so, keep in mind that the blade offset is controlled in the software, and will not affect a machine-based test cut. So if the test cut comes out fine, then that makes it more likely to be blade offset. If it is blade offset, the result you are getting indicates that the blade offset is set too high.
