Pressure difference between original cut and copy
MrJoel replied to MrJoel's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
It’s an amazing feature I use all the time on the big one... this job is just a ton of the same item that has to be done on a cutting mat. Going back to the computer is just an extra step in the 500 pc process -
Pressure difference between original cut and copy

This is a new ce-6000+ -
Hey y’all, I have been in negotiations with a large pocket knife company retailer about doing skins for their most popular knives. The first one was hand cut with the vinyl already applied, the other was crudely patterned then painstakingly outlined, smoothed, holes resized, moved, moved again, nodes nudged, eliminated, added, and that took about 12 hours. I need to figure out a faster way to accurately scan and scale. I’m open to suggestions and have been leaning towards a 3D scanner like the einscan SE but I know that some education from 3D to 2d would be needed. I have at my disposal so far, coreldraw, the graphtec studio plus and scal pro5. Throw me some ideas if you would! Thanks

Hey guys, the sea of vinyl options is not one I sail on often (99% of my stuff is reflective) but I have a large job doing large graphics that simply requests air release. It will be white gloss at 28” so a 30” roll possibility would rock. I don’t want to laminate it but it will be premasked so think is ok as long as it’s up stable. Suggestions? It’s only for an 18 month campaign too

Head creep... sound from motors between cut
MrJoel posted a topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Hey y’all, my fc8000 seems to have the motors slightly engaged while the unit is inactive (like between cuts). It just makes a noise kinda like when you advance the rollers but in super slow motion. If I flick the belt it stops for a few minutes but then you can feel the hum through the belt when it starts back up. Any suggestions? -

It doesn’t actually move but I guess a growl describes it... errrrrrrrrrrrrrrerrrrrrrrrr -
I really am dyslexic...it does make life interesting sometimes!

Yeah, I mixed up the 5/8 with the rounded up .58

See, this is 30”x10 yards of reflective 1/2”x5/8” hexagons... if I can save half the cuts and reduce the waste then I’m saving 10-20% of material too. I do a lot of little hexagons!

This is a peel and stick application. if i can do it without a gap between then I don't need to weed it. I do a lot of these and eliminating the weeding would be amazing for me time wise, but it has to aesthetically pleasing for the end customer as well.

#1 button stopped working graphtec fc8000
MrJoel posted a topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Hey guys, my used graphtec had the #1 button stop working. I have disassembled the control panel, sprayed it with electrical cleaner and it’s still popping up and down but it is not registering being pressed... any suggestions? -
#1 button stopped working graphtec fc8000

I sent the control board up to my brother who owns a computer repair shop. He de-soldered the old button and put a new one on. $10 -
Ok y'all, I have an order of 50 small (4x6ish) us flags... my eyes are hating me on the stars! Any suggestions? I'm not opposed to explosives at this point

I wish I could find some of those locally... I just picked about 4200 1/8” ovals... can’t feel my fingers now!

Just wondering if there is something that tells you time to complete the cut job you send... trying to perfect my workflow I guess

Studio pro time for job question
MrJoel replied to MrJoel's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
I got the ones you recommended for me...both for the Titan and the Graphtec. This was a different brand though. It was one in my CB15 holder (I was having issues with the aftermarket CB09 holder so I switched over to the big guy...turns out it was just holding the holder cocked a bit making for some really goofy offset looking issues)...new graphtec holder is ordered and on the way -
Studio pro time for job question

I’m barely kissing the backing paper on this stuff. I accidentally left it on making copy of a smaller job I had just cut. And wasn’t sure if I had enough vinyl on the roll for double the large job I was cutting so I stopped it and measured. When I restarted it I think it broke the tip... I’ve dont that on the Titan before because pausing doesn’t actually pick the blade up like the graphtec... but.. I guess that’s where i thought wrong. The cost of errors is well priced into my products but it still hurts -

I jinxed myself... tip broke half way through a cut job... lost about 6ft of 30” reflective! Lesson learned -
Studio pro time for job question
MrJoel replied to MrJoel's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
I’ve worked with a couple programs from various shops I worked at... a couple of them would tell the time remaining for the cut job. i do have to say I like the cut quality of the graphtec over the Titan 3. Corners are a bit sharper and cuts are more consistent. I basically run that thing 3 days a week for 6 hours at a time in 5100 series reflective and it just eats it up. The blades are lasting quite a bit longer (same company, same degree...) -

Setting for tool holder going higher between cuts
MrJoel posted a topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Ok yall, I am cutting some fairly thick material that i used to do on my titan. it comes in at 22mil and both machines are cutting it fine. the problem is that the Graphtec doesn't raise the blade high enough between cuts. I know I've seen somewhere that the advanced settings has a spot for raising the blade higher after a cut but I can't find it. hopefully it is available through the plotter controller as I am still without my #1 button. Thanks in advance -
Just wondering if I'm just missing it or if it isnt there for an option. If it isn't there is there a way to change offset to compensate for the larger CB15 blades... getting ready to cut some really thick stuff and I can't figure out the Graphtec software on the new PC...
-
I have tried twice to install that but I keep getting errors. I’m installing for the fc8000 (which I have) but may try the 8600???
-
It is when choosing the right blade holder in the blade holder options... the offset is built into the blade holder selection within their software (from what I’ve read), that’s why choosing the wrong blade holder (red or blue) makes a huge difference in the cut. my #1 button is not working on the machine and I can’t get the controller program to launch so I might have to try this nasty stuff on the Titan tonight... inreally need to take a day and get the graphtec stuff figured out... I just don’t see that happening in the next few weeks
-
Every time i switch over from my Titan to my graphtec I have to go into settings and switch the step size.. it’s just one setting but dang if I don’t forget when I start a large reflective cut... err because a 1/2 size large decal just doesn’t cut it !
