  1. I'm exploring the idea of adding window tinting to the products I offer. However after reading online I am not sure if my MH-871 Mk2 can properly handle this type of chore. I have had very good luck with its accuracy so far, but not sure if this will stay true when I attempt to cut film. Looking at the software that is out there for templates such as tint tek 20/20 there is some sticker shock $$$. What I would like is if someone has a template for a 2013 F-150, preferably a side window "don't want first attempt to be rear slider" they could send me I would greatly appreciate it. This will be on my personal vehicle that I would be attempting and since its a crew cab if someone sent me either the front or rear side window I could test out my cutter, and if it works buy the software to finish the job, or remove my trial if I decide its more then I want to tackle at this point. If not thanks anyways, just thought I would check.
  2. These are all very sharp! I would be a little too intimidated to attempt a large install like this right now... need a bit more experience. You do these dry or wet?

    My largest multi layer piece

Yep I remove the transfer tape and essentially layer backwards. Once I have it set, squeegee it out good, and spray down the transfer tape. Pull transfer tape at a sharp angle and might have to help hold down the leading edge but after that it releases from the transfer tape pretty nicely. I've done it the other way as well using registration marks and starting at top layer. I like the regular method for multi color logos where the vinyl isn't necessarily laying on top of another layer of vinyl, any my reverse method for when you have shadowed text etc. Seems like no matter how a person does it it's bound to cause grey hair.

I've had decent luck taping the bottom layer down firm, and then doing what I would call a light wet install. Using as little fluid as needed it gives me just enough release to get them lined up just the way I want it. Squeegee it spray the transfer tape down, and then peel off the transfer tape and move on to the next layer. I'm using Oracal 651 and greenstar medium tack transfer tape. Once I do the final layer, I go ahead and peel the transfer tape one last time, let the decal sit for an hour or so to dry out nicely and then remask it. Some guys might raise an eyebrow to this method but its worked very well so far.

Thanks! Finished up for the most part today. I really like the way the 3 color one turned out on the pickup. Customer was very excited about it.

Yeah, I have one right now that is insisting on using a very old piece of clipart and only reference is off of an old business card. I really don't like the design as it makes it look like my machine was messing up.

Out here in the middle of the country a lot of local US mail will not even have commas between city and state. Guess we are just ignorant hicks. Lol.

The no commas was intentional per the customer. The missing dot on the I is a good catch thanks. I'll have to fix that on my next trip to finish up.

Thanks! Yeah just started, layering vinyl is nerve racking, assembling it all before applying. Starting to wonder if layering it on site wouldn't work better. Then again if I mess one up at home I can just remake it. On site kinda screwed.

Few from today, part of a large order I received. Still have a combine and 4 pickups to vinyl up. Turning out pretty good I think. For some reason on the black truck it looks like a white vinyl background buts its actually metallic silver.

Picked up a mh-871 2 months ago. After doing a ton of reading online and playing with making a few smaller items I felt comfortable enough to make some decals for our farm and our neighbors farm. Just picked up a larger job from someone who saw my work on the neighbors rig so must not be too bad... Anyways let me know what you think. If I could change anything I would highlight the remainder of the text on the red truck in silver as well. But that is our truck so its good enough for now.
