No. The one thing you want to avoid doing is damaging the white nylon 'cutting strip' by having the blade run into it (gouge it) by going through the backing paper of the vinyl. Your boss needs to rethink her goals.

I agree, starting with the Graphtec FC8000 on up, You can do this. They have a channel on the cutter, and a 2nd position for the blade holder, that cuts over that channel, so no damage to cutting strip. These cutters also have 8 different conditions that can be set for cutting. You can check for used deals on Ebay, Craigslist, or Fbook Marketplace.

Transfer Tape is essential to the entire process. However, getting that tape onto your decal can be accomplished in several ways. I personally like using a holder for the roll(s), and this is attached to the edge of my work table. While I do like the steel roller unit that is sold by USCUTTER, it's too narrow for my 30" jobs. So, I made my own, using 2x4 scraps. For reference, the height between the inner bottom and the center of the dowel is 4.5" or 5" to allow clearance for a full roll of tape. I attach it down to table with adjustable c-clamps.

You stated. I bought a 32 pin to USB cable, and it didn't work. What didn't work about it? So you down loaded the driver and installed it? And it didn't show a com port in your computer? Not all USB to serial cables will work with a vinyl cutter. We only recommend a Tripplite Keyspan Adapter or a Belkin. Then add a null modem cable between the Adapter and vinyl cutter. That cutter has a RS-232C connection. I found that on the specs. Are you sure it is 32 pin? Both of my FC units only have a RS232C 25 pin connection. Haumana how many pins are on your Graphtec CE6000 for the RS232C?

That type of cutting is often called Flex-cut or Kiss-Cut. Typically the first cut around a printed object (termed a "contour cut") is done normal then a second cut (usually a little farther out from the original contour cut line) with the FLex-Cut/Kiss-Cut setting cuts the vinyl and periodically pushes on down harder and cuts the carrier sheet as well then pops back up to continue cutting just the vinyl and so on. The decals can later be broken free of the carrier with light finger pressure. This process won't work with regular cut gaphics that need a tranfer paper but does work with printed graphics that have a fairly simple countor shape. If you cut all the way through the carrier sheet all heck will break loose and you lose the integrity of the sheet as it's trying to feed the vinyl back and forth in the pinch rollers. Summa makes a flat-bed cutter than has vacume hold down that can probably cut all the way but I have never used one.

the graphtec fc series has a special feature for this that will not damage the cut strip but will cost you as much as several of the gcc plotters

Welcome aboard deadtree, glad to have you here. What is your boss trying to achieve by doing this? Avoiding the expense of the transfer tape? Slice gave you the correct answer to your question, but if we knew the goal there might be some suggestion for getting there. What type of work is planned for the cutter?

Looking for a tig welder in action. Man/helmet/hands/gear I have been searching all morning in my collection and online and just can't seem to find one he likes. I've searched this forum too which is always great BUT "weld" has been used in so many posts, my eyes hurt from reading so much. Thanks!

That’s very cool! Did you draw that yourself?

I've answered your question in a different thread. Please just post. your issue once, and not in multiple threads, or just start one thread for yourself, and this purely volunteer forum will do our best to address your issue(s).
