I got a vinyl cutter so I could add fine details to my plasma cut metalwork. I've had the vinyl cutter for about a year now and still haven't combined the use of metalwork and vinyl...But a friend of mine is holding a Rib Fest and invited me to come, so I told him I'd make some sort of award like a plaque or something. I originally thought I'd simply cut out a piece of metal in the shape of a rack of ribs and decorate it with vinyl lettering so the winner could hang a plaque on their wall. Then this 30" tall thing happened... Can't wait to eat!

SignBlazer officially appears as being v6 -- however the archived program is a hybrid that eliminates the start-up screens with an internal 'crack' (which is why anti-virus programs show it as malicious threat). After install, the Help/ABOUT menu shows v7.0.0 (dated Sept. 2012) http://www.uscuttersupport.com/downloads/Software/SignBlazer/signblazer_setup.exe I'm baffled why people can't find this link -- it's been posted countless times.

Also, if you drag and drop any file into VinylMaster it will work out whether it is an image (bitmap) or a vector. You can choose this in File (menu) > Import and if you select Image file then vector files will be ignored.

Glad you are rolling! One good trick to use when in doubt about an image is to view it in wire frame mode. What you see in wire frame is what the cutter will see. SO if you see just a square box and no image inside it is a raster image (picture made of pixels not vector lines and curves) If the design is already vectored you will see the lines. You will also see hidden things that will mess with your cut like clipping masks that artists use to apply gradient fills etc... Depending on where you buy graphic art you may see all sorts of things that aren't actually cut ready. Sometimes things like non-welded script text or even hidden items that were on another layer that they forgot to delete. I do most of my own artwork for this very reason but clients often send me "cut ready" vectors and about 2 in 10 are actually ready to go.
