Should I be using a Tripp-lite Keyspan Adapter? My computer has a serial port. Thank you.

I do have to admit, I had relatively little trouble as well, but it did take me awhile to get it dialed it in to handle the high detail I was wanting.

True, but at the same time, unless you have the patience and basic trouble shooting and computer skills the MH can easily discourage you and cause you to give up on the endeavor. The MH can be a great teacher if you're willing to work it but it is not a simple plug it in and go machine.

Sorry, silly headline, old Groucho Marx reference. Here's a tip for those using another program to cut with (i.e. - most using VinylMaster as the standard now). Within the SignBlazer program is a LIBRARY (Draw menu). This is a treasure trove of cut-ready graphics/vectors. All are clean and solid, easily brought into VinyMaster as 'eps files. There are animals (yes, even a duck) and religious aspects, and swirls and ampersands, and arrows and street signs, and sports! If you have nothing to do one rainy day for a few hours, download and install v7.0.0 of SBE and then just browse the Library, you'll get some great ideas for designs of your own incorporating these elements. HEY, that's why it's called SignBlazerElements. LINK HERE ("thank you" to USCutter for holding steady on hosting this installation archive)-------> CLICK TO DOWNLOAD

Do you have to use a particular type of vinyl? I always heard that the low energy plastics used for dirt bikes and ATVs caused issues with vinyls sticking.

The brand that I told you to purchase and showed you the picture, is Tripp-lite Keyspan Adapter. That is the brand name. That is the one guaranteed to work with a vinyl cutter. You cannot just go find any USB to serial Adapter. Those also have the same cheap Chinese chip set like the MH cutter. They will not work with a vinyl cutter. You have to purchase the TrIpp-lite brand like I showed you.

After you do that reboot your computer.

I think she should get a Tripp-Lite Keyspan Adapter and be done with it. Those cutters need them anyway. My 2c

the video is from 2010 and the newer ones seem to contradict how I remember doing it years ago like you show skeeter - I think on youtube I found something like 4 different videos on setup of the 721 from uscutter along with all the other ones people have made - wish I had one sitting around to go thru it so I could see again but chances of me buying another 721 are nill

The video from UScutter, shows go to the USB ports In device manager. Not the printers. I gave her that video from you tube, You go to Universal Serial Bus controllers, Click the arrow beside the top one and open the whole list up. With the vinyl cutter turned on. She should be able to unplug and it and plug back in and her com port number shows up. Match it in Signblazer . If there is an error like a question mark, beside that com port, then the driver is not installed. Watch the video, this part starts at 5:35. You can move the video to 5:35 and watch.

I know skeeter covered this but you did install the http://www.uscuttersupport.com/downloads/Drivers/cdm20828_setup_windows.exe drivers on the laptop too - just to confirm

Ya, that sticky part is needed. Must be a reason for it not being there. Same with my kid, coolest stuff around.

Hmm seems like seems like I might have tested mine with a certain well known gun makers mark.... All I can say is my kids wear cool stuff and so do I. Agree the weed is no fun and I wish it had a sticky carrier.

Ok, back to topic. Before you remind me, I know. Not for sale. When I get a new product to try, I always make something for me first to test the stuff out.. The stuff is like cutting and weeding vinyl flooring. Maybe not that bad, but wow. Also, the carrier is not sticky. If you pull any part of the design off. It will not stick and you have to put that piece on with a second pressing. Very cool effect. The black on black looks amazing. Pic's are one koozie with design on both sides. Now to test it and make sure the stuff sticks.

If the cutter is recognized correctly, Windows will assign a comm port number. Open the "Run" dialog box by pressing and holding the Windows key, then press the R key ("Run"), Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. Click on the plus next to the Ports list, there you should see something, I forget exactly what it is called but it is basically a USB to serial bridge and there will be a comm number assigned to it. In my case I use an ATEN USB-2-Serial adapter so in my case I see ATEN USB to Serial Bridge (COM1). I would then go into my cutting software and tell it to use COM1. If you do not know what you're looking at in the device manager screen, take a screen shot and post it here and we might be able to help.

Yup, the "Skeeter method" When Dakota writes his book detailing the life and times of the us cutter forum, it better have it's own chapter.

@MZ SKEETER You're a method!! Immortalized for the eternity of the forum! Woohoo!

Thanks. I will find out in a couple of days.

I did the Skeeter method for blade depth yes. I don't think there is any other effective way to get there especially on something that thick. It is definitely a cool product that has a niche application here and there. I did a logo on one of my personal hoodies out of 600 to see how well it holds up and it has stayed well.

Ok, thanks. I have the 60* cleancut blades in both my holders. Oh, same skeeter blade set up method? I saw that part about heating the back, but that seems to have been for the 1000 and taken out for the 600. Will give it a try and see how things go.

Here is a hat I did. The Red and Blue are regular Siser and the White is Brick. May even be Brick 1000 which USC stopped selling. If you look close you can see the corners are not perfect part of this is from the cut and part from the length of time I had to leave it in the hat press to get good adhesion. Regular shirts you can turn inside out and heat from the back side but the hat took some effort to get it to stay put. The client loved it.

Here is a really good video on how MX graphics are made, put together by Transworld MX, of Split Graphics. Start to finish about 3 minutes. Graphtec flatbed ( some use FC series) Roland, laminator, AI,. Some companies do sell templates, but quality can be hit and miss from what i have heard.
