I don't see how they are bashing you. People are here to help, not do everything for you. They simply suggested that you attempt to learn a simple skill for yourself so in the future you would not have to ask for help. "Teach a man to fish" comes to mind in this case. More often than not people come on to these forums and ask for "help" with their project. Members here do the work for them, for free, then these people turn around and make money off the work. I'm not saying this is the case here, but I can assure you it happens more often than it should. Please consider this point of view when reacting to member's posts.

Nobody was bashing, suggesting, you put a few circles in an object, doing it yourself gives you satisfaction (at least it did to me) when you accomplish something on your own..it's called learning the time it took to type all that you did, you would have had it done, in minutes

If you have to ask, then it is usually a good idea to change the design. The design is similar enough that it may cause you problems. It is not worth the hassle.

It's called "Subtract from shape area". I gave it a try like you said and it worked great! I tried that before, but was not holding down the alt key and the result was not the same. I always like learning a new way to do things.

Second one from the left on the top row. You have to also push the Alt key to expand in one shot. That's a weird little quirk that was later changes in newer versions. <edit> Actually not always necessary to use the Alt key but you end up with a compound shape rather than a compound path. Minor distinction and may not be a problem to cut in the instance of just knocking out some text from another object but for most (cut ready) work a compound path is what you are looking for. To illustrate this draw two circles that overlap and select them both and perform the function without the Alt key and you will have a compound shape (In CS2) which actually still has both circles in outline view. So in some instances it won't matter which you end up with but there is a definite difference that may be noticed in a cut job depending on the design. Using the Alt key just immediately adds a step of expanding the appearance of the compound shape which you can also do by going through the Object>Expand Appearance route.

Well I got him in here and zoomed in and showed him how distorted it was. He decided instead of 1 big map for all the sections, he wanted 4 of them for 4 sections to use.

That combination of the SAME STYLE DESIGN with those rolling hills above the text is gonna be problematic, I would think Look into SignBlazer Elements, which has a few rustic sign borders included in the Library (Draw menu --- SignElements -- Panels) There are three different types with wood branches as borders, and two with scenes that say "Outback" (one a windmill and another with hopping kangaroos) -- Jerry Bonham, the creator of SignBlazer, was Australian, so that's why these are in there !!! You would be able to use these, without copyright issues.

On the MH series 3" out is the "zero" point for material. Hit reset or power cycle the machine to obtain a "home" position and clear out the limited memory after each job. As noted, spread out your pinch rollers across the machine, but not over marked center. To custom position the start of a cut use the "offline/pause" button & then use arrows to move around cut head and material to desired start location. Then hit "origin" to place back in cut mode. Material origin for "zero" After selecting the cut tab use the preview window to help with making sure you are laid out correctly. Look at the arrows and graphic of the cutter and it's control panel to determine if it will cut correctly. Sacrifice a .99 cent roll of mailing paper ( or back of vinyl carrier sheet) and use your pen ( or rig up a sharply) and start testing out different lay-outs to see what works best for you. I never could mentally get used to how horizontal/landscape mode cut and would make mistakes. Vertical/Portrait preview Horizontal/Landscape preview Design in what ever mat size you need, but I always revert back to my material size before cutting to aid in not making these types of mistakes.
