Wow, Amazon has that for $149.  Any idea what the difference between that and the 1400 is?

I picked up some of the best matte photo paper HP sells buy one/get one free from Officemax, nice paper, but you are supposed to let it dry for 7 days before mounting, which is a pain in the ass.

The main difference is the ink system. The 1100 Uses the Durabright pigment inks and the 1400's uses the Claria Dye Based Inks, The printing resolution and pretty much most of the specs are dead on between the two though

nice looking printer! I have epson 1400 and love it. As I understand it the 1400 can use pigment cartriges if need be.  As I understand it pigment is longer lasting but the sacrifice is level of detail? Dye is better detail but not as long lasting??.Just curious what the advantages are pigment vs dye. thanks

Pigment ink does seem to last longer and hold up better to washing if using it for t-shirts..

I ran some samples a while back using a WorkForce with DuraBright and my Epson RX600 Dye based.. The RX600 photo looked better but pretty much washed out and faded after its first wash were the Durabright ink held up to the washing just fine.

Between the 1100 + 1400 Your main difference is the ink that it comes with plus the 1400 has a few extra features like printing on cds and other stuff.  but the print resolution is the same.

cool. I have been using my 1400 for shirts  transfers and havent seen any fading yet. If you using for tshirt transfers I wonder if it has anything to do with the transfer meterial your using. just a thought.
thanks for the clarification

oh ok kenya .
yeah I have been using bulk ink that came with a CIS system purchased off of ebay and I havent had any fading and the colors are just as bright as the Claria inks. this system has saved me a ton of $$$. I think they make a pigment version and I highly recommend it! Good luck

just picked up a Samsung Clp-310 at office max for 99 bucks.  It was a hundo off, and its a laser printer.  Its nice for making those cell phone covers and stuff. It prints the nicest photos for a laser ive ever seen.
